VMware Explore or Bust!
That is how I feel about VMware Explore. It is great to be doing in-person events, and VMware Explore should be on top of your list to attend in 2023. The venue is in Las Vegas this year, so more affordable to attend and is a good value in this economy. VMware Explore is a great place to network, learn, and have fun. Fostering career growth and helping me to be a better IT Profession overall.
Let me share some of the VMware Explorer benefits I have experienced that helped me to grow in the vCommunity and spread my wings professionally.
VMware Explore:
- I became a Dallas Fort Worth VMware User Group member, a volunteer, and later a VMUG Leader
- I met a bunch of vExperts, and they encouraged me to apply to become a vExpert.
- As a native English speaker, VMware Explore TechTalks and vBrownBag encouraged me to do sessions in Spanish and Portuguese.
- I participated in VMware Explorer VMware Code and Hackathons!
- I participated in VMware Explore Hands-on-Lab, and Odyssey Events which were very inspirational
- I started my cloud journey by transitioning from virtualization to cloud and cutting my teeth on VMware Cloud on AWS when it first came out.
- Received an invitation to attend and be a Tech Field Day Cloud Delegate
- Received an invitation to join NetApp A-Team
- A couple of times, I was fortunate enough to participate in charity events like the Wounded Warriors vDodgeball

This VMware Explorer 2017 VMware Code picture reflects the great spirit of career growth, lifelong friendships, the power of vCommunity, and global networking — my adopted Brazillian family.

Since I am a DFW VMUG Leader, after coming back from the 2019 VMware Explorer VMware Code Hackathons, Hands-on-Lab, and Odyssey Events this inspired me so much that I had to run my own DFW VMUG local hackathon, reflected in the picture below.

I was honored and thrilled to get an invitation to attend VMware Explore Tech Field Day Extra and then invited later to be a Tech Field Day Cloud Delegate. This picture is from Tech Field Day Extra.

One of my favorite VMware Explore experiences was the opportunity to meet Pat! Meeting the man, the legend, the great communicator Patrick P. Gelsinger was a perk of being a vExpert as he attended the VMware Explore vExpert Party when he was CEO of VMware.

It has been a fun ride, “Living the dream!” I hope to see you at VMware Explore 2023 in Las Vegas! Please ping me on Twitter @wmichel to say hi or in person if you see a large, jolly fellow walking around wearing a black Brazilian gaucho hat!
Looking forward to this year’s keynotes, speakers, and sessions — I love the opportunities to ask your questions directly to IT industry leaders and authors. There is so much to learn and so much to do. The Keynotes can be inspiring, and you have a front-row seat to new announcements, new technologies, new solutions, roadmaps, and so much more. The great speaker content and awesome sessions of your choosing can prepare and help educate you on topics of importance to you and they are recorded. The VMware Explore 2023 Las Vegas Content Catalog will be available on June 6, 2023, and Session scheduling will be available on July 11.
Sign up today and be sure to take advantage of early-bird pricing before it ends on May 30.
